A fitness brand has started selling masks designed to be worn while exercising to reduce the discomfort many experience while wearing traditional designs.

The Under Armour $40 sports masks are made with high-performance materials that allow the product to be worn comfortably throughout the duration of a workout.

The three-layered fabric allows air to pass through but blocks moisture and also has an 'anti-microbial treatment' to minimise the presence of bacteria.

Wearing a mask helps reduce the spread of viruses and will suppress the transmission of COVID-19.

Currently in New South Wales, masks are mandatory in selected indoor settings across Greater Sydney, Wollongong, the Central Coast and Blue the Mountains in New South Wales.

The list of locations includes all shops of any kind, defined as 'retail or business premises that provide goods or services to the public'.

The product can be worn while playing sports and while doing cardio or weights-based fitness training, as the sleek design provides minimal movement.

It's available in four colours - red, black, grey and purple - as well as a variety of sizes to suit different face shapes.

The mask is completely durable and washable, making it an environmentally friendly option compared to single-use masks.

The 'iso-chill' technology disperses heat from the fabric and makes the fabric feel cool when worn.

The product has also been endorsed by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who shared a selfie on Instagram wearing the mask.

For hygiene reasons, the product cannot be returned or exchanged once purchased.

Thousands have left positive reviews on the Under Armour website, but many say correct sizing is key.

'Great comfortable mask. I can now breathe easier than compared to many other types of masks that you can get at the shops nowadays. Just bear in mind that if you wear glasses then you'll still get the fogging up to your glasses at times,' one person wrote.

'This is the best mask for any athletic/leisure activities and it is not particularly close. It's pricey, but like most things you get what you pay for,' another said.

Those in New South Wales regions who fail to wear a mandatory mask will be fined $200.
