NFL odds, lines, spreads, picks, predictions for Week 17, 2020: Proven model loving Ravens, Saints
CBS Sports 2hrs ago

The 2020 NFL playoff picture is coming into view, but the full bracket will be determined in Week 17. With the Cardinals losing to the 49ers at home and the Bears dominating the Jaguars last week, Chicago can now clinch a wild card spot with a win on Sunday. However, they'll host a motivated Packers squad who can lock up a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NFC playoff bracket with a victory over their own.

The Packers are five-point favorites in the latest Week 17 NFL odds from William Hill Sportsbook, while the Browns are now nine-point favorites over the Steelers with news that Pittsburgh will rest Ben Roethlisberger with the AFC North sewn up. Meanwhile, the current Week 17 NFL spreads list Washington as a two-point favorite over the Eagles, with Washington needing a win to clinch the NFC East. All of the Week 17 NFL lines are listed below, and SportsLine's advanced computer model has all the NFL betting advice and predictions you need to make the best Week 17 NFL picks now

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,900 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception five-plus years ago. It is a sizzling 23-13 on top-rated NFL picks this season, returning well over $800. The model also enters Week 17 on an incredible 119-77 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

Additionally, the model also ranked in the Top 10 on NFLPickWatch in three of the past four years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 95 percent of CBS Sports office pool players three times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, it has examined the latest Week 17 NFL odds and NFL betting lines from William Hill, simulated every snap, and its predictions are in. Head to SportsLine now to see them all.

Top NFL predictions for Week 17

One of the top Week 17 NFL picks the model recommends: The Ravens (-13) cover against the Bengals. Thanks to a victory by the rival Steelers over the Colts last week, the Ravens can clinch a wild card with a win or a loss by the Browns or Colts.

Despite back-to-back wins, the Bengals rank 29th in yards allowed per carry (4.8), while the Ravens once again have the NFL's top rushing attack. They lead the league in rushing attempts (501), total rushing yards (2,667) and yards per carry (5.3), while also ranking second with 22 rushing touchdowns. During their current four-game winning streak, the Ravens are averaging 233.3 yards per game. That's why the model projects that Lamar Jackson, J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards all rush for well over 50 yards as the Ravens cover in well over 60 percent of simulations.

Another one of the top Week 17 NFL predictions from the model: The Saints (-6.5) cover against the Panthers. New Orleans has clinched the NFC South, but could still grab the top spot in the NFC playoff bracket if Green Bay falters against the Bears. That should be enough motivation for Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara to stay on the field.

Carolina has been pesky against the spread this season, posting a 9-6 record. But Matt Rhule's squad is just 2-8 straight up since its 3-2 start and doesn't have much motivation to push star running back Christian McCaffrey (thigh) into this game.

SportsLine's model projects that New Orleans will win by double-digits as the Saints cover the spread nearly 60 percent of the time. The over (47.5) hits more than 50 percent of the time.

20 must-read health books
The Health section of your local bookstore or online book retailer looks different than it did a couple of decades ago, when titles like Food-Free at Last: How I Learned to Eat Air or The South Beach Diet Supercharged were popular picks. Still today, authors—including would-be physicians, B-list celebs and underqualified fitness experts—dole out “health advice,” trying to convince readers that running themselves ragged with dieting and strenuous exercise will make them thinner, prettier, and happier. In fact, it has had an adverse effect, especially on women. The cruel dieting culture, incessant calorie counting, and little to no representation of health experts from diverse communities, along with the unrealistic standards set by the beauty and fashion industries, have led to eating disorders and severe mental health issues. Today, coupled with wellness, the topics covered in health and well-being books focus more on making healthy choices daily, keeping active, practising self-care, and being mindful of our mental health. Thanks to the body positivity movement, and some notable influencers in this space, we know that healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes.
